WIZARD OF OZ: Created in 2021. Approx. 10.75 inches in height. As in the story, this ‘wizard’ presents a far more wonderous facade than the reality behind it.
GREEN-EYE: Created in 2021. Approx. 14.25 inches in height. Some might claim that this statue belongs in my EMOTION cat., jealousy being the Bard’s “green-eyed monster.” But I see this work as a cousin to my Cyclops statue.
FICKLE FINGERS OF FATE: Created in 2021. Approx. 12.25 inches in height. A wealth of iconography supports this work’s theme as to the power of chance, which can hammer you or rather plant a kiss.
PACK ATTACK: Created in 2018. Approx. 8.75 inches in height. Poor Actaeon was torn apart by his own hounds, having displeased the goddess Diana. In this early work of mine, pink equates to bloodied flesh.
CENTAUR: Created in 2019. Approx. 12.75 inches in height. Another ode to my Classical past, this part-horse/part-man ‘rears up’ in the design. And then there’s that American flag; is the USA as a country always to be part human, part beast?
SANDMAN: Created in 2020: Approx. 7.5 inches in height. Hovering over a reclining figure, this bringer of sleep appears to have a golf dream in mind as well for the child.
ST. GEORGE: Created in 2020: Approx. 12 inches in height. Having dismounted, this pseudo-English saint stands atop the dragon he has slain in the wilds of Africa.
SAGITTARIUS: Created in 2019. Approx. 8.5 inches in height. In this Roman version of the myth, Pan’s son — the inventor of archery — aims an arrow skyward — his own ultimate destination.
JACK’S STALK: Created in 2023. Approx. 12.75 inches in height. It was a toss-up whether I should place this statue here or in the “SOCIETY” section. Yes, it’s a ‘take’ on the Jack-and-the-beanstalk story, but my intent is to portray today’s fact that anyone poking his head up to express an opinion boldly may well face evil giants as a reward.
VALKYRIE: Created in 2021. Approx. 11.5 inches in height. A portrait which emphasizes the winged helmet often displayed in the depiction of any warrior maiden so-named. These glamorized females were said to carry worthy dead fighters from the battlefield to the Norse god Odin in the hall Valhalla.
